Proctor qualifies for Commonwealth final

Wednesday 30th July 2014

Team England’s Shara Proctor qualified for the final of the Women’s Long Jump at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow earlier today.

It’s Shara’s second appearance at a Commonwealth Games after competing for Anguilla in 2006 in Melbourne, Australia.

“I’m just happy to qualify,” said Shara. “I should have on my first jump but I just wanted to continue jumping to get a rhythm, because I haven’t jumped in a while, so I needed to make sure I had everything in line and make sure I have a good rhythm in the warm-up for tomorrow.”

Her jump of 6.51 was enough to qualify for the final in second place in group A. The final is due to take place at Hampden Park on Thursday at 7.15pm.
